A Toast

to the english majors of ‘23 at Saint Anselm College in honor of our last night of senior seminar and our completed senior theses:

a toast to work that is dear to our hearts.

to literature, to art, to writing,

to our finished theses and all their parts,

to smart minds before us—so inviting.

a toast to self growth and drafts upon drafts.

we forget to enjoy the extensive

process, which honors revision and craft.

we pause upon completion—so pensive.

a toast to each other, for fellow advice.

collaboration guided our success,

and here we stand together, this last night,

in reflection and pride, with no regrets. 

a toast to us and our minds’ creations: 

to honoring art on more occasions.
